Nurture What Matters Most
Share
Hello Blissful Attitude Community!
This week, we're focusing on the theme “Nurture What Matters Most.”
After grounding ourselves in self-worth last week, it's only natural to take the next step—nurturing. Just like a plant that’s rooted in the earth, we still need sunlight, water, and love to grow and eventually bloom. So, let’s dive into how we can care for the areas of life that truly matter.
What Does It Mean to Nurture?
Oxford Languages defines nurture as “to care for and encourage the growth or development of.”
Let’s apply this to ourselves—mentally, physically, and emotionally. Nurturing means showing yourself kindness, compassion, and respect, especially in the moments when it feels hardest.
As we grow, we naturally extend that same love outward—into our relationships, our dreams, and our everyday peace.
How Do I Begin to Nurture Myself?
Here are a few gentle ways to begin:
-
Recognize that you deserve kindness and love, even when you feel vulnerable or uncertain.
-
Prioritize your needs. Take time to check in with your mind, body, and soul. What do you need right now? Maybe it’s a bit more rest, a walk outside, or a moment of mindful stillness. Start small—and celebrate each step.
-
Practice routine self-care. Once you identify your needs, make space for them in your schedule. Whether it's a weekly yoga class, a bubble bath, a daily meditation, or simply reading a favorite book—treat these moments like essential tune-ups for your well-being.
Try this:
Take a moment to pause and reflect—what’s one thing you’ve been wanting to do for yourself?
Is it a hobby, a wellness practice, a creative outlet? Now challenge yourself to make space for it this month. If you’re unsure what that is, keep reading.
Identify What Matters Most
Take 5 to 10 minutes and journal with this prompt:
What truly matters to me right now?
To deepen your reflection, take your first answer and ask yourself “why?” five times. This practice can help you uncover your core values and the things that energize you from within.
And remember—there may be more than one answer. Think about the different areas of your life:
Health, relationships, personal growth, family, goals, finances, self-worth.
Which ones are calling for your attention? Once identified, you can begin nurturing them with intention.
Ways to Gently Nurture Yourself
We believe in starting small, so here are approachable ways to begin nurturing:
-
Nurture Your Mind – Mindfulness, quiet time, positive content, breathwork.
-
Nurture Your Body – Nourishing meals, movement, stretching, and rest.
-
Nurture Your Space – Decluttering, creating beauty and comfort around you.
-
Nurture Your Dreams – Journal, visualize, take small steps, and say yes to growth.
-
Nurture Your Relationships – Be present, set boundaries, spend intentional time together.
Let Go to Make Space
As you grow, you may notice certain habits, thoughts, or even relationships that no longer serve your journey. Like pruning a plant, sometimes we need to release what’s draining us in order to thrive.
Ask yourself:
What do I need to let go of to truly nurture what matters?
It might be:
-
Doom scrolling or binge watching
-
Self-criticism or resentment
-
Overcommitment or guilt
-
Energy-draining routines or obligations
Letting go is an act of self-care too. Set boundaries. Show yourself grace. And remember—it’s okay to stumble; just don’t stop.
Daily Intentions & Mindfulness Practice
Here’s a simple daily check-in to stay aligned with what matters:
Today I will nurture _______ by _______.
Pair it with a few affirmations to begin your day:
-
I protect and nourish what matters most.
-
I choose to grow with intention and love.
-
I am worthy of the care I give to others—and myself.
You Are Worth the Care You Give
Taking time to nurture yourself isn’t always easy—or fun. Some days it’s uncomfortable. Other days, it’s tempting to push your needs aside for “later.”
But nurturing yourself is a powerful act of self-respect. It shows your loved ones—and the world—that tending to your wellbeing is not selfish, it’s essential.
If you have kids, you’re teaching them by example. If you have dreams, you’re building the energy and resilience to pursue them.
So this week, I encourage you to journal, reflect, and choose one area of your life to nurture.
Plant the seeds now so you can bloom into the version of yourself you’re becoming.
We’d love to hear:
What are you nurturing this week?
